Oameni-busolăMircea Platon despre Simon-Nicholas Linguet şi actualitatea scrierilor acestuia

Simon-Nicholas Henri Linguet este o revelaţie pentru cei care căutăm ieşire din Criza a cărei sfîrşit este la fel de incert pe cît este de cert următorul puseu de criză. Într-adevăr, vedem cu ocazia lecturii textului autorat de Mircea Platon că am avut TOT timpul minţi luminate şi conştiinţe curate care ne-au avertizat din timp despre excesele ce aveau sa vină. Vocile acestor oameni-busolă sunt acoperite în timpul vieţii lor de corurile conformiştilor sau interesaţilor, aceleaşi coruri care declara în timp de criza, 'nu ne-a spus nimeni altfel', respectiv 'cine ar fi crezut?' Mai grav este cînd oamenii-busolă sunt ciomăgiţi, real sau figurativ, de cei care altfel sunt campionii binelui general/pluralismului de idei.

În spaţiul discursiv românesc contemporan, sărăcit de tranziţie, remarc existenţa cîtorva oameni-busolă ale căror voci au darul de a restabili ordinea lucrurilor. Acest spaţiu, fiind debil de felul lui, face ca vocile acestea să fie auzite ici si colo, iar cei care le auzim îi si preţuim pe acesti oameni. Nu destul pentru a face o diferenţa la nivel mare, destul pentru a (ne) menţine speranţa. Mircea Platon este un astfel de om-busolă, a cărui voce ar face mai bine chiar si *pragmaticii* s-o ia mai des în calculele lor.

Revenind pe scurt la Linguet, ce s-a întîmplat în aceşti +200 ani care sa nu fi pre/văzut el? Ar fi putut istoria noastră s-o ia pe alta cale? Cel mai probabil, NU. Dar luînd în seama voci ca aceasta, chiar şi implicit, a umanizat liberal democraţia şi i-a dat pană la urma zile. De ce sa nu facem lucrul acesta mai des/explicit?

As a lawyer, economist and journalist of European stature, Linguet argued that the political and economic ideas advocated by the “economic philosophes” or the physiocrats, were bound to lead to a dangerous revolution undertaken without a clear idea of the true principles of a new and better society. Linguet's opposition to the physiocrats and his support for the guilds stemmed from a radical populism that prompted him to accuse the philosophes and the physiocrats of talking about humanity while neglecting the sufferings of real human beings. Linguet warned during the 1770s and 1780s that the systematic laissez-faire theories of the philosophes and Turgot's suppression of the guilds would dissolve the traditional ties of society and lead to a conflict between a mass of unemployed people and an oppressive police state. Linguet argued that only a politics of subsistence, welfare, and preventative nurture would prevent the coming revolution. Linguet's clashes with the physiocrats would prompt him to develop a theory of underconsumption as well as a historicist understanding of political economy and of the legal system that would have a deep influence upon the history of humanist economy.
